An evening walk from Elephant and Castle to Covent Garden

Image
What better way to end a lovely streak of warm weather than an evening walk from Elephant and Castle in south London to the picturesque Covent Garden. This was a lovely short (2.7km) walk passing by some beautiful London landmarks on the south bank, across the river via the Waterloo Bridge and ending on the cobblestoned streets of Covent Garden, at the London Transport Museum.  London Transport Museum in Covent Garden 📹  Check out these and other attractions in our Elephant and Castle to Covent Garden  Walk video on our Skint Adventure YouTube channel.  📸  See photos from this walk on our  Skint Adventure Instagram account .  A view of the River Thames from Waterloo Bridge 📍  Check out these key attractions on the route, in the video: Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre Michael Faraday Memorial Elephant and Castle station St George's Circus The Old Vic The Fire Station Waterloo Waterloo Station Odeon BFI Imax The Royal Waterloo Hospital for Children and Women Waterloo Bridge Hay

Canada Water to Cutty Sark Walking Tour

Image
The weather was starting to change as we set out on this picturesque 4km walk from Canada Water to Cutty Sark. This is a beautiful route looping through lush forests, under bridges and along canals.  It forms part of the Thames Path, a long distance walking trail, following the Thames river for 294 km from the source in a Cotswold meadow to the Thames Barrier in Woolwich. Starting off at Canada Water station we head across to the Stave Hill Ecological Park, passing via Greenland Dock and finally finishing at Cutty Sark. There were so many great pitstops along this route that I'd love to go back and visit, definitely one to add to your list.  📹 Check out these and other attractions in our Canada Water to Cutty Sark Walking Tour video on our Skint Adventure YouTube channel.  📸  See photos from this walk on our Skint Adventure Instagram account .  📍 Check out these key attractions on the route, in the video: Canada Water station Canada Dock Stave Hill Stave Hill Ecological Park Wa

Notting Hill Carnival 2020 Parade Walk - Lansdowne Road to Ladbroke Grove, London

Image
With the biggest annual London event of the summer cancelled this year due to the current pandemic, we decided to take a walk along the usual Notting Hill Carnival parade route to see what the streets looked like without carnival. The route loops around from Ladbroke Grove, down Kensal Road, onto Elkstone Road and along to Westbourne Park. It then heads down Great Western Road onto Chepstone Road then Westbourn Grove and finishing back where we started at Ladbroke Grove.  This walk takes just over an hour and passes by some beautiful churches, really cool pubs and market stalls. It was a pretty weird experience seeing the streets so quiet at this time of year, absent of the usual revellers, floats, feathers, sound systems and jerk chicken. Instead, everything moved online this year and the streets were bare, with the exception of carnival staff and police officers ready to dissuade any potential party starters.  Check out these and other attractions in our Notting Hill Carnival 2020 Pa
